(For context, almost every one of the few suppliers for this bizarre and hyperspecific raw material supplies it as a blend of the ketone and alcohol, the so-called "stabilised" form. The ketone is much more powerful than the alcohol, so it is the dominant profile when smelling, but I've always been on the hunt for the pure ketone form. Sadly, in this form, it loves itself a bit too much and polymerises very swiftly. To remedy this, I've organised for a custom batch of freshly synthesised pure 1-octen-3-one, which was delivered to me in a fantastical dry ice chamber and promptly diluted in PG/DPG, which halts the reaction and stabilises the material. This quality is more metallic, with less of a mushroom note.)
